PFM: TurnAround Ministries Horse Camp

Last Thursday the Potter’s Field staff in Montana broke out the saddles and readied the riding helmets to prepare for a packed day of ministry! Not a minute past noon two large vans loaded with approximately 30 excited children rolled through the gate and onto the Potter’s Field property as the horses paced back and forth in anticipation.

This was our second year partnering with TurnAround Ministries for an evangelistic Horse Camp outreach. Children from Atlanta came to ride on the horses, participate in games, create crafts, and experience the love of Jesus all day long!

Some of the children had come the previous year and looked forward to seeing familiar faces. The others who were shy at first eventually broke out of their shells after a filling lunch of hotdogs and hamburgers, a fun time of kid’s worship, and, of course, their very own chance to ride on a horse! Children painted and designed their own bandanas, had their faces painted, and made with new friends. Even a classic water balloon toss inevitably turned into a full on water balloon fight to escape from the summer heat!

As a ministry that has Potter’s Field Kid’s programs in 5 international locations, the focus especially in the last year has been about bringing our attention back to our own country, and seeing our own town as our own “Jerusalem.”  It was a privilege to serve alongside those who wish to reach a lost and dying world on behalf of Christ, and to be able to pour out hope and love to these children, who were so ready to receive it through the vehicle of horses.

Potter’s Field Ministries: The Beginning

In 1992, Pastor Michael and Pam gave their first Potter’s Field presentation at a women’s retreat in South Florida. Michael made a pot and gave a short message on Jeremiah 18, while Pam sang original songs composed specifically for the event. The Holy Spirit was so present in that event, Pam knew that this was what they were supposed to do together before the foundations of the earth. Michael never dreamed that his avocation as a potter would be used as a tool, along with his wife’s gift of singing/songwriting, to bring a message of hope of the “Potter and the clay” that would lead countless people to Christ, heal marriages and put broken lives back together again.

They are still doing this today, twenty years later. Since then, Pastor Michael and Pam have been in churches all across the country. They continue to tour, ministering the love and grace of Jesus in over a hundred church services each year around the world.

Potter’s Field Ministries stands as a testimony of God’s ability to bring beauty out of ashes. He has truly fashioned a ministry that understands the power of unity and is doing its part to unite the Body of Christ in our common call to spread the Gospel until the whole world really does hear!
